In-person coding classes and community in Cambridge, MA
We are a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit hosting free in-person coding classes and other community events in Cambridge, MA.
The project began in October 2024 with small coding classes for 1–3 students in the common area of the Cambridge Public Library. By mid-2025, our meetups had grown to as many as 15 attendees with the help of regular volunteers. We expanded beyond coding to include community events such as board game nights. In spring 2026, we partnered with the Cambridge Public Library to host a series of "Coding and Web Development 101" workshops. In summer 2026, we taught the coding sessions for the Moore Youth Center's teen internship (Design Lab: Nature + AI). In August 2026, we incorporated as Cambridge Dev Lab, Inc., a Massachusetts nonprofit, with 501(c)(3) status following in September (EIN 42-2005486). The same month, we launched our first free Saturday coding bootcamp. By September 2026, more than 180 people had attended our meetups, and over 80 of them came back for more sessions. More than a dozen volunteers — working developers and CS students — have helped run sessions over the two years.
